Lil Wayne's signature move in jail won't have anything to do with his actual signature -- TMZ has learned he's been instructed not to sign a single autograph during his stint at Rikers Island.
A rep for the Correction Officer's Benevolent Association tells us officials issued the no autograph mandate because "Lil Wayne is not a celebrity in here."
The rep also tells us Wayne isn't getting any special treatment while at Rikers -- but we're told the rapper really hasn't requested anything out of the ordinary.
Weezy is nearly a week into the yearlong jail sentence he received for a gun-related crime -- but he could get out after 8 months if he stays on his best behavior.
Lil Wayne has arrived at Rikers Island jail in New York -- which means he only has 364-and-a-half more days to go.
Weezy arrived to the NY jail in a corrections van -- we're told because the rapper is a "high-profile inmate," he was not transported with any other prisoners.
As of now, we're told the rapper is still undergoing the admissions procedure at the jail -- which entails a physical & mental health exam & questionnaire.
It has yet to be determined whether Lil Wayne will be in the general population at Rikers -- or if he will be given his own cell.
And since moving can make any convicted felon hungry, the jail chef has the perfect dish for Wayne's first night -- noodles with beef sausage & marinara sauce, steamed greens, a mixed green salad, whole wheat bread, sliced peaches & a fruit drink or tea.
Weezy was sentenced to a year in the big house for a gun charge -- but he could be out sooner if he stays on his best behavior.
Lil Wayne was supposed to be behind bars last night -- instead, dude was in front of a crowd of roughly 20,000 people ... rocking out a surprise performance at Madison Square Garden.
Wayne, who was unable to be sentenced on attempted weapons possession charges yesterday because of a freak fire in the courthouse, appeared at the Jay-Z concert to perform a song along with Young Jeezy, Nicki Minaj and Drake.
The ironic name of the song Weezy performed -- "I'm Goin' In."
Provided there's no other fires or dental emergencies, Lil Wayne will actually be going into jail today.
Lil Wayne won't be going to jail today after all -- his hearing was just postponed due to a fire in the courthouse where he was scheduled to be sentenced.
We're told the fire occurred in the basement of the Manhattan Criminal Court building at 10:29 AM ET sending smoke throughout the building and causing a complete evacuation.
The fire was under control by 11:55 AM ET -- but the damage was done ... because Lil Wayne's attorney says the courthouse has now been shut down for the rest of the day.
Wayne -- who pled guilty to attempted weapons possession last year -- was supposed to be sentenced last month ... but the rapper was able to delay the hearing until today so he could have dental surgery on his grill.
Wayne's attorney tells TMZ the rapper has no idea his sentencing has been postponed, because he's on a plane right now.
UPDATE 2:12 PM ET: A court official tells TMZ Wayne will be sentenced tomorrow ... unless the hand of God comes down and saves him yet again.
Two days before starting his one year jail sentence for a gun charge, Lil Wayne showed off his refurbished, replacement teeth at his going away party at LIV in Miami on Sunday.
As TMZ previously reported, the NY judge allowed Wayne to visit the dentist a few days ago -- so the rapper could swap out his $150,000 diamond teeth for some less expensive chompers before he checked into the slammer.
At his going away party, Weezy got a cake that read "Keep Ya Head Up" -- unfortunately, it doesn't mention anything about keeping his mouth shut.
Former NBA star Jayson Williams was taken to the clink this week after being sentenced to 5 years behind bars -- but there's an upside: The place has a b-ball hoop he can use to get in with the cool kids.
Jayson was shipped off to Hunterdon County Correctional Facility in New Jersey on Monday -- but we're told it's only a temporary home for Williams until he's transferred to more permanent quarters.
Williams has to serve at least 18 months behind bars before he's eligible for parole -- so hopefully the next place has a hoops court too.
Joshua Malina from "The West Wing" has no problem with a firehouse in his neighborhood -- but he's a little nervous about plans to turn it into a makeshift prison. Can ya blame him?
Malibu is considering a plan to have Fire Camp 8 house 80-100 inmates in the near future. Malina tells TMZ he found out about the plan on Saturday after he found a flier taped to his mailbox. We're guessing it goes something like this: "Dear resident, Have you have ever wanted to live near a bunch of convicted felons? Well now's your chance!"
But seriously ... Malina tells TMZ, "The fire camp is a quarter of a mile from my home. My kids and their friends bike, skateboard, run, and play here. That will all change if a jail opens in our midst. It is deeply disturbing to think that such an extreme decision would be made without any interaction with the residents here."
The fire camp tells us 24 fire camps in Los Angeles County currently house inmates and they are still "looking into what camp to house the inmates."
After doing hard time for vehicular manslaughter last year, former "Prison Break" star Lane Garrison prepared for an upcoming acting gig by playing a shirtless game of football with a pal in L.A. on Tuesday.
Walt Disney's grandson has been nailed with two dozen felonies in connection with a gun and drug bust. Patrick Disney Miller was originally charged with one count of possession of ammunition.
Today, the L.A. County District Attorney's office added 19 counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, one count of possession of an illegal assault weapon and three counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm.
Cops executed a search warrant at Miller's home and found 13 handguns, a rifle, an illegal assault rifle and drugs.
If convicted, Miller could get eight years in state prison.
O.J. Simpson is a popular man while he's sitting behind bars. A slew of documentarians want to get a sit-down with The Juice.
Sources at the Lovelock Correctional Center tell TMZ at least 10 people who have never met O.J. have contacted the prison in hopes of landing an interview with Simpson. We're told all were shot down by Lovelock's PIO.
"If I Did It ... Again" would make a catchy doc title, don't you think?
Adnan Ghalib, Britney Spears' ex-boyfriend/paparazzo, was booked into jail on Friday -- and here's the mug shot. Soul patches are all the rage in prison.
He'll be doing 45 days in the pokey and was also on formal probation for 36 months and has to complete 52 weeks of anger management classes and 45 days of Caltrans (hard labor).
Back in October, Ghalib pled no contest to leaving the scene of an accident after he allegedly ran over a process server in February.
O.J. Simpson has a lot of time on his hands and he's putting it to good use -- he's in the best shape of his post-murder football life.
The Juice is dropping the lbs, lifting weights, and, for good measure, preaching racial harmony and anger management to other inmates at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center, a good friend of his tells the NY Post.
Norman Pardo claims, "He says that's one of the benefits of not being able to go out and party all the time like he used to."
Former Big Brother winner Adam Jasinski is so desperate to get out of the slammer, he's asking the judge to let him move back in with his parents.
The season 9 champ -- who's accused of using his $500,000 prize to fund a prescription drug ring -- has filed court papers in Massachusetts which read like an episode of Let's Make a Deal.
In the docs, Jasinski -- who's still awaiting trial -- claims he's willing to live with his parents, wear an electronic monitoring bracelet, hand over his passport and undergo mental health and/or substance abuse counseling .. as long as the judge lets him out of the clink.
Jasinski -- who was arrested during a sting operation in October -- also claims he has a pretty good defense in his case. According to the docs, Adam plans on "calling into question the veracity of the cooperating government witness ... entrapment and outrageous government conduct."
He also claims the accusation that he flew to Mass. specifically to deal drugs would be "illogical given Jasinski's high public profile."
Joe Francis is officially a free man -- and won't be going back to jail after pleading guilty to filing false tax returns.
We were outside court today when Joe emerged victorious -- after the judge sentenced him to time served, $250,000 restitution and a $10,000 fine. He could have faced up to 10 years in prison.
He said he's now ready to get back to his "clean business" ... of getting barely legal girls to take off their tops.
Lil Wayne has just pled guilty to attempted weapon possession in New York.
Wayne was busted on July 22, 2007 in NYC after police pulled over his tour bus because they allegedly smelled pot.
Cops say when an officer approached the bus, Wayne tossed a Louis Vuitton bag with a gun inside.
New York is known for having extremely tough gun laws -- Wayne is expecting to get 1-year behind bars.
Wayne's troubles are far from over.
The rapper still faces felony drug possession and weapons charges in Arizona ... after cops found 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy, various drug paraphernalia and a handgun on his tour bus during a traffic stop in Yuma County back in 2008.
Wayne pled not guilty to those charges -- his trial is set for March of 2010.
